EUROPEAN PHILOSOPHY OF SCIENCE ASSOCIATION

Presidential Address

Welcome to the first EPSA Newsletter of 2015!

2014 was an exciting year for EPSA. We have launched a new webpage, introduced a new web-based membership administration system (which recorded many new members), set up a Facebook page, and started to plan the next EPSA conference, which will take place in Düsseldorf (Germany) from September 23 to 26, 2015. EPSA15 will feature three Keynote Speakers (Cristina Bicchieri, Igor Douven and Marcel Weber) as well as many symposia and contributed papers. The deadline for submission of symposia proposals has already passed. The deadline for contributed papers is March 1. Please submit an extended abstract if you have not yet done so. At EPSA15, there will also be a Graduate Student Gathering and a meeting of EPSA’s Women’s Caucus. Participants will further have the opportunity to talk to the editors of EPSA’s journal – the European Journal for Philosophy of Science.

EPSA will launch several new initiatives in the next couple of weeks. So stay tuned! These initiatives are all meant to promote philosophy of science in Europe, and I am thankful for your continued support of EPSA.

This newsletter will appear twice a year. I hope that you will enjoy it. Many thanks to Jeanne Peijnenburg, Lilia Gurova and David Teira from the EPSA Steering Committee for compiling it!

Sincerely,
Stephan Hartmann
