Keynote Speakers

Cristina Bicchieri is the SJP Harvie Professor of Social Thought and Comparative Ethics, director of the new Behavioral Ethics Lab, and director of the Philosophy, Politics and Economics program at the University of Pennsylvania, USA. She got her Ph.D. at the University of Cambridge in 1984 and previously taught at Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Pittsburgh, and Columbia University. Her research focuses on rational choice theory, the philosophy of social science, and behavioral ethics. Amongst her books are The Grammar of Society: The Nature and Dynamics of Social Norms (CUP 2006), Rationality and Cooperation (CUP 1993), and Norms in the Wild: How to Diagnose, Measure and Change Social Norms (CUP, forthcoming). Igor Douven
is Directeur de Recherche at the institute Sciences, Normes, Décision at the Université Paris-Sorbonne, France. He studied Law (in Maastricht) and Musicology and Philosophy at Utrecht University and got his Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Leuven, Belgium, in 1996. He previously taught at Utrecht, Rotterdam, Leuven, where he led a major research project on formal epistemology, and Groningen, where he was Professor of Formal Philosophy. Douven published more than 100 articles in peer reviewed journals on topics from formal epistemology, social epistemology, the philosophy of language, metaphysics and cognitive science. Marcel Weber
is Chair of Philosophy of Science at the Department of Philosophy at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. He got his Ph.D. from the University of Konstanz in 1996 and his habilitation from Leibniz University Hannover in 2002. He previously taught at Konstanz and Basel. His research focuses on a variety of questions from the philosophy of biology and general philosophy of science. Amongst his books are Philosophy of Experimental Biology (CUP 2010) and Die Architektur der Synthese: Entstehung und Philosophie der modernen Evolutionsbiologie (de Gruyter 1998).
